SoftwareShield License Hosting Service

Service Terms

The SoftwareShield License Hosting service allows Internet Edition customers to host their SoftwareShield Licenses, configuration files and template files on the SoftwareShield servers.

The service allows these clients to take advantage of the Web-Activator purchased in the SoftwareShield Internet Edition SDK without having to actually have or maintain a Windows IIS web-server. Monthly reports of all web-activator activity are delivered by email to clients of this service.

Fees for the service are listed below. There are two plans you can subscribe to based on your anticipated volume. You can switch plans at any time.

Eligibility

To be eligible for subscription to the License Hosting Service:

  1. You must have purchased the Internet Edition of the SoftwareShield System SDK.
  2. You must have a current valid Maintenance Support Agreement with SoftwareShield. You can login to the Client Area to see which edition of SoftwareShield you own, as well as check the status of your Maintenance Support Agreement.

Subscription Procedure

To subscribe to the service:

  1. Simply complete the SoftwareShield License Hosting Service order form (Available in the Client Area) and send it along with a signed copy of the Service Agreement and your original sales invoice to SoftwareShield. (Mailing instructions may be found in the order form.)

Once we have reviewed your request for subscription service and processed your initial set-up fee, you will be notified by email that you may submit your license sets for review / posting and you will be provided with additional information.

Procedure for Submitting and Posting License Sets

A "license set " is a single license project file (*.lpj) and optionally a configuration file and an HTML template file. Details about these files and their formats may be found in the SoftwareShield help file under "Web-Activator".

  1. Once you receive approval from SoftwareShield, you must email your license sets to SoftwareShield. SoftwareShield will inspect all files for possible errors or omissions, scan for viruses, establish your unique URL and folder location on the SoftwareShield server for your Web-Activator communication, post your files, and a copy of the Web-Activator and perform tests to ensure the Web-Activator is working as expected with your license. SoftwareShield will then notify you of your unique Client Activator URL on the SoftwareShield Server and your service will immediately begin. This process takes up to 5 days from when we receive your license set.
  2. If a configuration file is provided in the license set, SoftwareShield reserves the right to modify it to ensure that accurate logs are kept to track your Web-Activator usage.
  3. If at some point you require a change to be made to any of your license set files, a set-up fee will be charged against your account to make the changes.

License Hosting Plans and Fees

You may choose to subscribe to one of two plans (see below). Each plan will apply for a period of no less than one month. You may choose to change your plan at any time. Any change to your plan will take effect in the month following the notification of change. The notification of plan change must be delivered to SoftwareShield by email no less than three business days before the end of the calendar month, or else the change may be delayed by one month.

Fees are automatically charged against the credit card for a subscriber on the first day of each month as applicable. Usage charges only apply to successfully generated Activation Codes. Newly submitted license sets get unlimited Activation Code "generations" in the first three business days of the service commencing or three (3) free Activation Code "generations" (whichever comes last) to facilitate testing.

Set-Up Fee: One-time flat fee per license set of $50.00 USD

Plan Monthly Fee (USD) Fee Per Activation Code Generated (USD)
A $0 $1.09
B $25.00 $0.49
  • Plan A is more cost effective for small volume vendors who sell (generate Activation Codes for) fewer than approximately 40 copies of their software per month. If you choose plan A and generate no Activation Codes in a given month – you will be charged nothing for that month.
  • Plan B is more cost effective for vendors who sell (generate Activation Codes for) more than approximately 40 copies of their software per month.
