Central Processing Unit Type FingerPrint Flag

When this FingerPrint option flag is set, the CPU on the host machine is queried for its type. Most machines return the brand and model in this string. Some manufacturers however return very limited information. Newer manufacturers typically return the full make, model and family of the CPU. This value is physically stored in both software and hardware. The software storage is typically reinitialized from hardware every time the machine re-boots.

Typical Internal Values

  • "AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+ x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1 AuthenticAMD"

  • "80486"

Operating System and Security

This flag will be able to successfully query the CPU for its type on all versions of Windows. No special user permissions are required.
