Authorization Requests
Override Authorization RequestsWhen you are using the Manual-Activator, to perform an "off-line" activation, you have the option to override the Authorization Request Code received from the customer, and actually issue them an Activation Code which corresponds to a completely different Authorization Definition. Note that when using the Manual-Activator to perform a CheckPoint Serial Number Code exchange, overriding the Authorization Request is not necessary (or available) because the CheckPoint License Server always overrides it with the definition ID defined for that Serial Number - regardless of the requested ID. Although it will not be necessary often to override an Authorization Request, it gives you the option when inspecting Authorization Request Codes, using the Manual-Activator, to make the decision to provide the customer with an Activation Code that may do something completely different than what was requested. Example
Note that although you may override an Authorization Request Code, you must still have one to begin with. You can never issue an Activation Code without first having an Authorization Request Code. See Authorization Request Codes for more information. Note also that you can override Authorization Request Codes only with the Manual-Activator. The Web-Activator can not override an Authorization Request Code. More InformationFor help on actually overriding an Authorization Request Code with the Manual-Activator, see Overriding Authorization Request Codes in the SoftwareShield Manual-Activator Reference. |
