Creating Hidden Alias Files

For Hidden Alias Files, you must specify a name and a location where the Hidden Alias File will be created (at run-time).  You do this by entering a name and location in the SoftwareShield License Manager on the Alias Files Tab in the controls as shown:

You have the option of placing Hidden Alias Files in the folders "Main License File Folder", "Common Documents Folder", "System Folder", "Windows Folder" or "Program Files Folder". Be sure you understand what the Windows Permissions And Security Considerations are when you choose your Hidden Alias File Locations.

The File Name of a Hidden Alias File should simply be a unique and inconspicuous name. You may wish to create your own or use the "generate" button  to create a random unique name.

Generate randomly creates Hidden Alias File Names that look like real system files of one type or another.
