The Main License File Tab is the tab on the License Project Properties dialog where you define the name and password for the main license file. To get to it, open a license project file in the SoftwareShield License Manager and click on "Main License File".

The File Name field is simply the name of the Distributed License File including the extension you wish to use (you may use any extension you wish). This name is also used when you create a new license from scratch for the name of the corresponding License Project File and the Programming Notes File. We recommend that you always maintain the same name (not including the extension of course) for both the License Project File as well as its corresponding Distributed License File.

The password field may be any string of any length but must be at least 6 characters. We recommend that (like any password) you use some combination of upper and lower case characters, numbers and punctuation. To simplify the task of creating unique passwords, you can use the generate random password button (button with the die on it) to create a unique random password.

Note that the Main License File Name and Password fields may be locked in the UI to prevent accidental change of these critical fields when working in a team environment.

The Distributed License File can be set so that when compiled, the produced file is marked as either "Hidden", "System" or both using the check boxes provided.
