Invoking CheckPoint Server to Generate Activation Code

Invoking the CheckPoint License Server to "consume an activation" for your user and generate an Activation Code for them is easy.  Once you have connected to the CheckPoint server successfully, have entered both the customers Serial Number and Authorization Request Code - the "Generate Now" button will become enabled.  Simply click on the button to call the server.

Serial Number Code Exchange Success

If the generate call was successful, the controls on the dialog will update as in the following image:

As you can see,

  1. The "light" at the bottom of the dialog will turn from red to green.

  2. The "Activation Code" edit box will contain the code that the server generated to be given to the customer.

  3. The description area to the right of the Activation Code will update to inform you that the code was generated successfully.

Serial Number Code Exchange Failure

If the generate call was not successful, the controls on the dialog will update as in the following image:

As you can see,

  1. The light remains red.

  2. The "Activation Code" edit box is empty.

  3. The description area to the right of the edit box will update to provide the "return code" from the CheckPoint License Server, and its name.  In this example, the return code is 624 and the name of that return code is "FALSE_NO_ACTIVATIONS".  Please refer to RETURNCODES for descriptions of all of the return codes.  If a non-expected error occurred, or if more information is required, the "Extended Error Message" will contain added information that may be helpful to your developers in diagnosing the problem.
