Interpreting Connection and Database Status

When a connection is established to the CheckPoint License Server using the Manual-Activator, the SOAP web-service makes a few calls to establish the state of the server and its configuration.

When you click "Connect...", the Manual Activator first tests that the server is at the location specified and is responding to SOAP requests by calling ping type function directly on its interface to ensure it is responding.  If the server does not respond, you will be prompted with the following dialog:

If you see this dialog:

  1. Check the URL is correct.

  2. Check that your internet connection is working.

  3. Check with your system administrator to determine if you are behind a proxy server and if so make the necessary settings in Options.

  4. Check that the server machine is up and running.

  5. Check that the CheckPoint Server is deployed to the correct location and is responding to regular HTTP requests (see: Deploying the CheckPoint Server and HTTP GET URL Interface).

Once the CheckPoint server connection is tested successfully, a call is made to ensure that an administrator has been configured for the service.  If not, you will be prompted to advise your development team to set up an Administrator account first.

Once it has been determined that an administrator account exists, you will be prompted to Log-In.  Enter the name and password of a valid CheckPoint administrator account.

Once you have successfully logged in, the database configuration is tested.  This ensures that the database can be connected to and that its integrity is intact.  If it is not, you will be prompted to advise your development team to investigate the database configuration.

Once these variables have been successfully tested and verified, the Manual-Activator will visually display the state of both the connection to the server and the database configuration as in the following image:

Before you can proceed - you must have both a valid connection and a valid database configuration.  If not - advise your development team so they can Configure the CheckPoint Server.
