For SoftwareShield 4.0
CheckPoint Server update
The ISAPI version of CheckPoint is being Deprecated. This will affect SoftwareShield 4.0 or earlier users that have Server edition.
A new ASP .NET version is available to replace it. Customers with earlier version of CheckPoint will need to download the newer version of the software.
- Microsoft Access is not compatible with this newer .NET version.
- 4.5 projects will not work with 4.0 ISAPI version of CheckPoint
- 4.0 projects is able to connect to the 4.5 .Net Checkpoint server and still work
- Existing MS SQL CheckPoint Database can be upgraded to work with 4.5
Note: SoftwareShield 4.5 and 4.0 can be installed at the same time. 4.5 will not replace 4.0
For SoftwareShield 3.1
Issues connecting SoftwareShield 3.1 to CheckPoint License Server with Vista
SoftwareShield 3.1 Client Protector is not compatible with DEP (data execution prevention), which is enabled by default in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003. Please log into the Client Area for further support details.
Targeting Windows Vista with SoftwareShield 3.1
Be aware of Vista’s privilege mode and how it how this will affect the SoftwareShield systems ability to license your applications and proactively manage the issues that can arise. Microsoft Security Update for Windows XP (KB935448) (for SoftwareShield 3.1 users)
Two of the latest Microsoft Security Updates (KB925902 (MS07-017) and security update KB928843 (MS07-008) introduced a bug for Windows XP users where any application that uses HHCtrl.ocx (an ActiveX control used to display CHM help files) would not load.
