The Automated (Web-Deployed) Activation Code Generator automates the process of generating Activation Codes for your customers. The SoftwareShield Web-Deployed Activation Code Generator is a CGI application which you deploy on a Windows web-server. The program functions as a CGI stand-alone web-server application that receives client request information on standard input and passes the results back on standard output. The data (passed in URL parameters) is evaluated by the Activation Code Generator, which in turn - creates appropriate response objects. Each request message is handled by a separate instance of the application. This allows you to deploy a single Activation Code Generator that can manage several licenses simultaneously from the same location. Deploying the SoftwareShield Web-Deployed Activation Code Generator application is relatively trivial and is exactly like deploying any other CGI application module on the web with a few minor considerations. The Interface to the Web-Deployed Activation Code Generator is very simple since there is only a single action in the web-server to use. Once your site assembles the URL string that includes the necessary parameters, you simply call a GET http request on the Web-Deployed Activation Code generator which in turn - returns a response object containing the Activation Code that you then remit electronically to your customer. The customer never links to the Activation Code Generator directly which enhances security.
