Using the SoftwareShield System SDK you can create a wide variety of licensing solutions. SoftwareShield supports a  large number of Available License Models and Available Activation Methods that allow your team to realize almost any licensing scenario.

In this section we briefly introduce you to the fundamental and general concepts you will need in order to effectively use the system to realize your licensing solution.

1. The first step is to analyze your specific business requirements and develop a conceptual license model you wish to enforce.  See: Available License Models.

2. Next decide how you will control your customers licenses by means of Activation. Normally you make changes to the customers license as a result of a sale, but this is totally flexible and can be the result of any other "trigger" in your business process. See: Available Activation Methods.
